Hardenbergh Insurance Group understands the Public Sector operates much differently than the Private Sector. We customized our approach to the Insurance/Risk Management needs of the Public Sector by creating a Public Entity Department.
Risk Management Consulting
Hardenbergh Insurance Group’s Dedicated Public Entity Department provides risk management consulting services to Authorities, K-12 Schools, Charter Schools, Colleges, Fire Districts, Counties, and Municipalities. Department members become strategic partners that assist our public sector clients in identifying loss exposures, examining the feasibility of alternative risk management techniques, selecting, and implementing the best techniques to customize and monitor their risk management program.
A snapshot of our consulting services include:
- Working with the Public Entity to ensure their Risk Management Program is effective, efficient, and meets regulatory requirements.
- Assisting in resolving claim issues including, but not limited to, defense assignment, coverage determinations and claim payments.
- Providing guidance and resources to the Public Entity’s Safety Committee.
- Providing written responses to coverage, claims and safety questions.
- Providing risk management guidance on the Public Entity’s new projects and/or initiatives.
- Being accessible to the Administration and Governing Body 24 hours a day.
Our Experience And Expertise
Hardenbergh Insurance Group has serviced the Public Sector since 1975. Our Dedicated Public Entity Department has provided risk management/insurance services to public entities since 2006. This experience along with the individualized expertise each “PE Team” member brings to the department allows us to better service the Public Sector.
A snapshot of our PE Team experience includes:
- Providing services to over 87 New Jersey public entities as well as Pennsylvania charter school
- Working with thirteen (13) New Jersey Joint Insurance Funds; four (4) New Jersey Insurance Commissions and the leading public entity commercial insurers
- Serving on various Municipal and School Joint Insurance Fund’s Safety and Coverage Committees, County Commission’s Safety and Claims Committees as well as the Municipal Excess Liability Joint Insurance Fund’s (MELJIF) Safety Committee and the MELJIF’s Coverage Committee
- Serving as the Student Accident Program Manager to three School Board Joint Insurance Funds.
A snapshot of our PE Team expertise includes:
Account Managers
Well versed in risk identification for public entities. This team member is able to advise whether the Public Entity should 1) purchase insurance to protect an asset or exposure; 2) transfer a risk to reduce or eliminate the Public Entity’s liability; or 3) avoid the exposure in its entirety.
Loss Control Representatives
Well versed in NJ PEOSH regulations and has a long-standing relationship with a variety of local risk management vendors that provide safety and loss control services to New Jersey Public Entities. This team member will ensure specialized training not only meets the safety needs of the client but also meets all their regulatory requirements.
Claims Account Managers
Well versed in the immunities afforded to Public Entities by Title 59 and the insurance language in policies to ensure claims are adjusted accordingly. This team member will work with the client in reporting claims, monitoring the claim process, reviewing claims experience reports, and provide feedback based on loss trends.
“PE Team” members only service Public Entities
- PE Team members receive specialized training in claims management, loss control, safety, and risk identification for Public Entities. They recognized the unique exposures of Public Entities and the challenges Public Entities face to keep up with the myriad of federal and state regulations.
- PE Team members work together to develop custom risk management programs to meet the needs of our Public Entity clients and provide professional claims services as well as safety / loss control consultation. We have a multitude of resources that enables us to deliver responses quickly and efficiently protecting the Entity and their constituents.
